A beloved client’s cause was an annual fundraiser for the preservation of a community lake. By calling upon Chicago Charm Company’s skill set, we decide to create something emblematic of the lake’s fauna.
In ZBrush, a Loon is digitally sculpted. The immediate benefit of using modern creation tools is the ability to explore different poses.
After choosing a dynamic pose, the virtual sculpt is 3D printed with a cast-ready resin and turned into silver charms. Using this process ensures every last detail carries through.
Each Loon is fitted with a lanyard cord and floats in a thematically crafted presentation box.
An amazing event began in 1997 and continued for over a decade. Each of those summers, the Spartanburg Plant in Greer, South Carolina hosted the BMW Homecoming to celebrate the roadsters and coupes built on the premises. Owners from coast to coast and even beyond would attend often forming spectacular incoming convoys. Truly, processions of sheer joy. At the gala dinner, an auction of various handiwork would benefit the local charity. This is Chicago Charm Company’s handiwork…
Starting with a fingertip sized chunk of carving wax, features and shapes are carved.
A low-slung roadster emerges from its wax shavings ready for the casting process.
Top-up and top-down versions are cast into solid gold segments.
Subsequent roadster versions were also created.
Wheels made with spoke detail
Chassis, wheels, and interconnecting links at the workbench ready for final assembly.
The final result evokes the same spectacle of roadsters on their pilgrimage to the Homecoming celebration.
Completed bracelet of roadsters in white, yellow, and rose golds.
Let’s continue with making a unique case for a unique bracelet. Soft materials only. Felt landscaping and crochet yarn stitching for the road line.
Soft-foam rendition of the Plant’s Zentrum Museum makes the location unmistakable..
A roadster bracelet was created for the 2006, 2007, and 2008 BMW Homecoming auctions with that third and final one ensuring that all three winners own something that no one else can claim to have.

The takeaway from this project demonstrates that offering something exquisitely one-of-a-kind in a fundraising event works wonders compared to some impersonal off-the-shelf product.
